In order to be optimized for SEO a web page is required to have at least a title and a description that will be used by search engines to display in their search results.
When you don’t define a meta description (and even sometimes when you do), search engines will generate their snippet/preview based on your page content and not based on your meta description.
Let’s see how you can define your title and meta description for your landing pages.
In the template layout
In the Head section (between the tags <head> and </head>), you should have at least those 2 rows:
<meta name=”description” content=”%%description%%”>
By setting the meta description content to %%description%%, it will automatically take the description of your landing page. And same with the %%title%% tag that will be replace by your landing page title.
In the landing page
When you create a new landing page or edit an existing one, on the first screen, you can change the title and description values.
Those values will replace the tags %%title%% and %%description%% that you have set up in your layout template.
